Two posts in one night! I'm really getting off to a good start! One of my favorite talks from this Conference was by President Uchtdorf about hope. I've come to love President Uchtdorf since he was called as an Apostle, and especially since he was called to the First Presidency. Jan and I watched he and his wife during Conference. They were so cute together. At one point during the rest hymn, he looked over and caught her eye and they both smiled at each other. He has such an earnest way of speaking, and I love it when he smiles as he talks. His message really resonated with me.
This quote is not from this Conference, but after seeing him in Conference yesterday, I remembered a really good talk that he gave in BYU Women's Conference in 2005 right after he was called as an Apostle. The whole talk is amazing, but these were some of my favorite quotes:
“I share these very personal experiences with you today, hoping to impress upon you that wherever you live, whatever circumstances you live in, whatever your background or challenges might be, the gospel light has the power and purpose to bring blessings into your life and into the lives of those placed in your path. The gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to bring blessings to our Heavenly Father's children. You are planted in your country, your community, your family to facilitate these blessings. I urge you to bloom where you are planted!
“My dear sisters--grandmothers, mothers, aunts, and friends--please never underestimate the power of your influence for good, especially in the lives of our most precious children and youth!
“By living up to this mission, in whatever life circumstance you find yourself--as a wife and mother, as a single mother, as a divorced woman, as a widowed or a single woman--the Lord our God has responsibilities and blessings in store for each of you individually, far beyond your imagination.” (President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Women’s Conference 2005)

I love Uchtdorf. My sister and I love him so much. He has such a way of speaking to us women. Is it just me but it seems that Pres. Hinckley, Pres. Monson and Pres. Uchtdorf are all so in tune with their wives. I know all of them are. But it just seems that they talk so sweetly and genuine to us women. Its amazing.
Ok I know I am commenting again but I didnt know you had quit the temple. You know you gotta tell us these things ;)
President Uchtdorf is such a wonderful speaker! He is becoming one of my favorites.
I love Pres. Uchtdorf. I agree with Karla, a lot of the general authorities have such a way of understanding women. It's probably because they are so close to the Lord, who understands us perfectly!
